A great place to stay in downtown Toronto not a fancy condo, but a unique one of a kind character home built in the late 1800's. The private entrance from the front porch up leads up to our charming, spacious shared apartment, which occupies the top 2 floors of this recently renovated detached house. Your private quarters consists of huge 3rd floor open concept loft room that acts as a meditation/healing/tea/acro yoga/creative fun space when not occupied by guests. There is no television, but hula hoops, juggling balls, yoga mats and a mini trampoline are available, should you feel inclined to play. Up a winding staircase, this serene sanctuary like space has lots of room to move around in and features slanted ceilings, a gorgeous custom wood meditation nook (that can double as a bed), and all the fixings for a great herbal tea as well as winding plant that encircles the large window overlooking beautiful cherry blossom (and other) trees outside. The other 3rd floor window, out of which the portable A/C is vented in the summertime, has a fabulous CN Tower view. Available sleeping surfaces a double mattress and an air mattress, both of which can be set up on the floor in the middle of the room. For those who prefer a harder sleep surface, there's the custom wood "meditation nook", which has on it a thin pillow top usually used as a meditation surface. Finally, there a softer single bed available, in addition to plenty of floor space. The loft room contains its own private 2 piece washroom (toilet & bath only, no sink), and a shared full bathroom (shower/bath, toilet, and sink) is available on the lower (second) floor where the shared vegetarian kitchen and den (which can also be rented out to guests as a private bedroom please inquire about this possibility) are located. The location: In heart of downtown west on a quiet residential street in "Little Portugal", the house is just a block west of Bathurst Street and right between and walking distance to the most visit worthy neighbourhoods in Toronto: Kensington Market, Chinatown, Queen West and College Street/Little Italy, as well as skipping distance from the lovely Alexandra Park (which boasts a community centre with great outdoor and indoor swimming pools). Capilano Suspension Bridge, Salmon Fish Hatchery, Grouse Mountain are nearby. Downtown Vancouver is 20 minute bus ride and about the same by bicycle. We enjoy cooking and serve a variety of food from different cultures. You also get to eat our famous, home baked bread and other goodies fresh from the oven.We love the outdoors (hiking, biking, running, skiing, swimming, snow shoeing), reading in front of the wood burning fire place, gardening or just hanging out and playing cards or a board game.
